"WHO'S THE BOSS?"
- Introduction
- I Cor.11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
- From the beginning Genesis 2:20-24
Gen. 2.20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
Gen. 2.21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
Gen. 2.22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
Gen. 2.23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Gen. 2.24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Gen. 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
- Rom. 13:1-8
Rom. 13.1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Rom. 13.2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
Rom. 13.3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
Rom. 13.4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Rom. 13.5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
Rom. 13.6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
Rom. 13.7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Rom. 13.8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
- Tit 3:1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
- The family Colossians 3:18-21
Col. 3.18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Col. 3.19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Col. 3.20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
Col. 3.21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.
- Head of the family I Cor. 11:3
- A pattern I Timothy 3:1-13
I Tim. 3.1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
I Tim. 3.2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
I Tim. 3.3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
I Tim. 3.4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
I Tim. 3.5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
I Tim. 3.6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
I Tim. 3.7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
I Tim. 3.8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
I Tim. 3.9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
I Tim. 3.10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
I Tim. 3.11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
I Tim. 3.12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
I Tim. 3.13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
- Not Lords I Peter 5:1-8
I Pet. 5.1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
I Pet. 5.2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
I Pet. 5.3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
I Pet. 5.4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
I Pet. 5.5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
I Pet. 5.6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
I Pet. 5.7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
I Pet. 5.8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
- Dwell in knowledge I Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
- Children
- Eph. 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
- Proverbs
- Pro 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
- Pro 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
- Pro 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.
- Wife/Mother
- A good woman Proverbs 31:10-28
Prov. 31.10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Prov. 31.11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
Prov. 31.12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Prov. 31.13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
Prov. 31.14 She is like the merchantsâ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

Prov. 31.27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Prov. 31.28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
- Teach Titus 2:3-5
Tit 2:3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
Tit 2:4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
Tit 2:5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
- Submit I Peter 3:1-6
I Pet. 3.1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
I Pet. 3.2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
I Pet. 3.3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
I Pet. 3.4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
I Pet. 3.5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
I Pet. 3.6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.

- Conclusion Ephesians 5:22-33
Eph. 5.22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Eph. 5.23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Eph. 5.24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Eph. 5.25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Eph. 5.26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Eph. 5.27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Eph. 5.28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
Eph. 5.29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
Eph. 5.30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
Eph. 5.31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Eph. 5.32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Eph. 5.33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
