True Worship

  1. Introduction
    1. Psalms 122:1 "And I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord."
    2. John 4:19-24
      John 4.19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
      John 4.20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
      John 4.21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
      John 4.22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
      John 4.23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
      John 4.24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
  2. Judjment Revelation 20:11-15
    Rev. 20.11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
    Rev. 20.12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
    Rev. 20.13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
    Rev. 20.14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
    Rev. 20.15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
  3. We have what we need.
    1. James 1:22-25
      Jam 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves
      Jam 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass
      Jam 1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was
      Jam 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
    2. II Peter 1:1-4
      2Pe 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
      2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
      2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
      2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
    3. II Timothy 3:16-17
      2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
      2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
  4. True worship
    1. Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
    2. Mat. 15:7-9
      Mat 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
      Mat 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
      Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
    3. Prayer
      1. I Thessalonians 5:17 "Prey without ceasing. In everything giving thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
      2. I Timothy 2.1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
      3. I Timothy 2:8 "I will therefore that men prey everywhere, lifting up holy hands, wothout wrath and doubting."
    4. Sing
      1. I Cor. 14:15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
      2. Eph. 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
      3. Col. 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
    5. When Acts 20-7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
    6. Lords Supper I Corinthians 11:20-34
      I Cor. 11.20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
      I Cor. 11.21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
      I Cor. 11.22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
      I Cor. 11.23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
      I Cor. 11.24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
      I Cor. 11.25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
      I Cor. 11.26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
      I Cor. 11.27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
      I Cor. 11.28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
      I Cor. 11.29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
      I Cor. 11.30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
      I Cor. 11.31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
      I Cor. 11.32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
      I Cor. 11.33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
      I Cor. 11.34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
    7. Contribution I Cor. 16:1-1
      I Cor. 16.1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
      I Cor. 16.2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
    8. Edification Ephesians 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
      1. Elders and Deacons
        1. I Timothy 3:1-13
          I Tim. 3.1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
          I Tim. 3.2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
          I Tim. 3.3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
          I Tim. 3.4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
          I Tim. 3.5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
          I Tim. 3.6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
          I Tim. 3.7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
          I Tim. 3.8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
          I Tim. 3.9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
          I Tim. 3.10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
          I Tim. 3.11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
          I Tim. 3.12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
          I Tim. 3.13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
        2. Titus 1:5-9
          Titus 1.5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
          Titus 1.6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
          Titus 1.7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
          Titus 1.8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
          Titus 1.9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
      2. Servents and faithfull men
        1. II Tim. 2:2And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
        2. II Tim. 2:24-25 II Tim. 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
          II Tim. 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
      3. More than 1 I Corinthians 14:29-40
        I Cor. 14.29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
        I Cor. 14.30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
        I Cor. 14.31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
        I Cor. 14.32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
        I Cor. 14.33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
        I Cor. 14.34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
        I Cor. 14.35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
        I Cor. 14.36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?
        I Cor. 14.37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.
        I Cor. 14.38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
        I Cor. 14.39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
        I Cor. 14.40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
      4. Women I Timothy 2:11-15
        I Tim. 2.11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
        I Tim. 2.12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
        I Tim. 2.13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
        I Tim. 2.14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
        I Tim. 2.15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
      5. Evangilist II Timothy 4:1-6
        II Tim. 4.1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
        II Tim. 4.2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
        II Tim. 4.3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
        II Tim. 4.4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
        II Tim. 4.5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
        II Tim. 4.6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
  5. Conculsion Hebrews 10:23-31
    Heb. 10.23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
    Heb. 10.24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
    Heb. 10.25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
    Heb. 10.26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
    Heb. 10.27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
    Heb. 10.28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
    Heb. 10.29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
    Heb. 10.30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
    Heb. 10.31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
