Troublesome Times Are Here

  1. Introduction
    1. I Tim. 4:1-5
      I Tim. 4.1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
      I Tim. 4.2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
      I Tim. 4.3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
      I Tim. 4.4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
      I Tim. 4.5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
    2. II Tim. 3:1-13
    3. Psalms 23
      Psalm 23.1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
      Psalm 23.2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
      Psalm 23.3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
      Psalm 23.4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
      Psalm 23.5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
      Psalm 23.6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
    4. Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
  2. Why Me
    1. Why did God do this to me?
      1. James 1:12-15
        James 1.12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
        James 1.13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
        James 1.14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
        James 1.15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
      2. Matthew 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
      3. Matthew 7:24-27
        Matt. 7.24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
        Matt. 7.25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
        Matt. 7.26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
        Matt. 7.27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
    2. Why is it so much worse for me?
      1. I Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
      2. II Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
    3. Why did this happen to me?
      1. James 1:2-4
        James 1.2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
        James 1.3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
        James 1.4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
      2. I Peter 1:6-7
        I Pet. 1.6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
        I Pet. 1.7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
      3. Romans 8:16-18, 28
        Rom. 8.16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
        Rom. 8.17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
        Rom. 8.18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

        Rom. 8.28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
  3. Conclusion I Peter 4:1-19

    Matt. 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
