    1. When someone dies they go to heaven to be with Christ
    2. Peter meets the dead at the pearly gates
    3. You will be reunited with loved ones
  2. Certainty of Death, Resurrection, & Judgment
    1. Hebrews 9:27 "And it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment:"
    2. Romans 14:10 "for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ."
    3. II Corinthians 5:10 "for we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ; that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."
    4. Matthew 12:35-37
Mat 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
  3. Death = Separation of Body & Spirit
    1. Eccl. 12.7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
    2. James 2.26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
    3. What Jesus Said Luke 16:19-31
  4. Resurrection - The saved will meet Christ in the air I Thes. 4:13-18
I Thes.. 4.13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
I Thes. 4.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
I Thes. 4.15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
I Thes. 4.16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
I Thes. 4.17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
I Thes. 4.18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
  5. Judgment
    1. Revelation 20:11-13
Rev. 20.11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev. 20.12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev. 20.13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
    2. Matthew 25:31- 46
  6. Conclusion
    1. After death your Spirit/Soul goes to one of two places to await Resurrection & Judgment as described by Jesus parable of Lazarus and the rich man in Luke 16, Abraham's bosom or hell.
    2. Why do people think Peter controls entry into The Kingdom of Heaven?
      1. Matt. 16:13-19
Matt. 16.13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Matt. 16.14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
Matt. 16.15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Matt. 16.16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Matt. 16.17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Matt. 16.18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matt. 16.19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
      2. The Keys to the Kingdom Acts 2:37-39
Acts 2.37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Acts 2.38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 2.39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
    3. You will be reunited with loved ones
      1. We will be as angles of God Matt. 22:23-30
Matt. 22:23. The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
Matt. 22:24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
Matt. 22:25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
Matt. 22:26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
Matt. 22:27 And last of all the woman died also.
Matt. 22:28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. Matt. 22.29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
Matt. 22.30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
      2. Rev. 21.4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
